After spending many hours researching vacuums that would care for antique rugs (actually clean and groom without damaging them), wood floors, and berber (or low pile) carpet, I finally found this brand.Most of what you read about these days is Dyson, which is powerful but far too damaging to fine carpet or berber. Many of the models cater to wall to wall carpeting, or are good for floors and area rugs and not carpet.Finding a quality brand that meets our floor needs proved difficult.Additionally, a strong point of this Emer is it's very light weight canister, long hose, supreme quality motor (which is very quiet) and excellent HEPPA technology. The air smells cleaner when you use this machine.It has a parquet floor brush with natural bristles that isdesigned to take in all particles, spits nothing out. The power of the machine and the parquet nozzle will handle wood floors, long hose to do stairs easily, and this brush deeply cleans and grooms fine wool rugs.Pet hair is no problem for this vacuum.If you have further need to clean carpet or berber, Emer sells a turbine power brush that is also fantastic. Powered by the vacuum's suction(not a separate motor) this piece cleans as well or better than a power brush, but again, without any damage to your carpet's fibers.The unit comes with small attachments that live in a compartment within the machine, but you can also purchase some nice extras such as a stair cleaning kit and a turbine hand brush for upholstery.This products quality level is at least on par with Miele's similar unit,at hundreds of dollars less.The motor is guaranteed seven years and my guess is it's a lifetime machine.I actually bought mine from the main Emer office in NJ, who were very helpful and can assist with finding the best model and attachments for your needs.Great investment.
