4.0 out of 5 starsVery good cleaner but has draw backsApril 9, 2008

I own 2 Bissel cleaners, 1 pro heat and the other is even older. I wanted to try one of these thinking I might buy one because my other 2 are getting some age on them and I have had to repair the oldest one. This unit does a very good job as long as you are cleaning out in the middle of a room (away from walls & ect.). The brush on it agitates back and forth so it will get both sides of the nap. It however does not get very close to edges and when you start cleaning it doesn't start putting out solution very close to the front so you have to have attatchments to get close to walls, stairways, large furniture that you may not want to move each time you clean ect. Also it is big which makes it more awkward for spot cleaning. I don't know if it really cleaned THAT much better than my pro heat (I bought it when they first came out a few years ago - it's not the newest model), but you don't have to stop and add water/clean the pickup tank nearly as often. Another drawback to this machine is that you have to mix the cleaning solution and the water. On the Bissels, you have seperate tanks and if you want to go all water to rinse a spot you just cleaned or go heavier on the cleaning solution for grimier areas, you can just turn a knob. Also in the commericals they would have you believe that the carpets will dry faster. I'm not sure if that is true.Don't get me wrong, it is a very good cleaner, and it is built like a tank, I'm not sure it is worth almost $1000 ($800 more than the newer Bissel we have which also heats the water, or keeps it good and hot anyway). We have 3 dogs and 1 clutsy teenage boy still at home, and they keep me busy cleaning carpets. If it really did THAT much better of a job than what I have, I would buy one. Or maybe if the price was a little more in line, at least $300 cheaper. I hope this helps.
